In addition to our highly successful after-school program, Mission Bit hosts “pop-up style” workshops throughout San Francisco and Oakland.

Curated around specific themes, such as, “How to design your own website using Wordpress” or “ Vision for My Future using Design Thinking and Google Sites,” these workshops expose students to the joy of computer science.

On Monday, July 9th Mission Bit headed to Galileo Academy of Science and Technology to partner with Jose Carrasco and the Futurama After School Program. Nearly 40 students were in attendance that day, eager to build their own personal website. With a little instruction, and a lot of encouragement, everyone walked away having learned some fundamental web design skills! Here’s a direct quote from one participant, “I had fun during this workshop. Thank you for coming and showing us!”

Mission Bit student shares her experience taking a semester long course.

Whether these workshops ignite the passion to become a software engineer or to design your own website, it is our mission to ensure that all students experience such an opportunity; that all students get to try something new, and that anyone can code! If you know students interested in learning how to code this summer encourage them to apply now.

We are so grateful to collaborate with mission driven after school programs like Futurama, who understand that academic support and enrichment activities keep young adults on the path to success. If you are interested in bringing Mission Bit to your school, community center or church please contact us at info@missionbit.com or give us a call at 415–879–5380.
