Demo Day Spring 2018 Event Recap
This semester’s Demo Day was located at GitHub headquarters. Instructors, families, and volunteers gathered together on May 9th to celebrate the work of Mission Bit students. The students had the chance to present their projects in front of their supporters while enjoying the final products.
Located in San Francisco GitHub is a web-based hosting service for version control using Git. Our students complete many of their final projects on GitHub. Due to the growing popularity of our Demo Day events we made the transition to their headquarters for this semester with the help of Software Engineer Brian Douglas. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the venue and the taco bar provided by the amazing staff.
The students at Demo Day were given the chance to present their work in front of a large audience. Judges viewed the student presentations and got a close look as everyone was welcome to peruse the games on the tables.
Demo Day judges are chosen for their unique take on the projects and our mission. This semester’s judges included Tiffany Odeka, Kim Jenkins, Brian Clark, Albery Brown, Margo Ellis, and Elisa DePetris from organizations such as Pivotal, KRON4, and our own Board of Directors. We’d like to thank the judges for their time and dedication.
And the winners are…
Jackdash in first place by Ivan Chow, Jillian Lim, and Christine Won.
The Last Medic in second place by Garrett Hong, Pedro Hernandez, Melvin Rodriguez, and Victor Shirley.
Helicopter Dodge in third place by Eric Davis and Joshua Robinson.
This year’s winners received monetary prizes to reflect their hard work. Great job Mission Bit students!
Demo Day is always the highlight of the semester as students see their hard work pay off. Volunteers, judges, and Mission Bit staff come together in a community effort to showcase our students.
